Notes from our Q1 FY26 townhall: Rango

Did our Q1 FY26 townhall last week. April kicks off the financial year in India, for context.

Still figuring out the format. Asked the team what worked at their previous companies.

The honest bit first. New client closures dropped last quarter. We were trying hard. Still dropped. Not something I can wave away or blame on the market.

One thing we've been clear on since we started, and want to say again — Rango is focused and niche. Product, websites, frontend, AI-native. That's it. The website is built around that same positioning. Going deeper on it this year, not wider.

Strategic priorities for this year:

  • One, inbound. Our pipeline has been outbound-heavy since day one. Content on LinkedIn and X, website built for AEO and SEO.

  • Two, grow existing accounts. Long-term partnerships have better economics than hunting new logos every month.

  • Three, ship more per person using AI. Every new addition to the team has to prove the need before we make it.

  • Four, delivery discipline. This one isn't new. We've been disciplined from day one and we're staying that way. The only goal is doing what's in the best interest of the people we work with. That's where value comes from. Everything else is noise.

Two things we're being deliberate about with the team this year:

  • Credits. We've done this from day one, and we're doubling down. Whenever work goes out in public, the people who built it get named. No anonymous case studies, no "the team" when a specific person did the work. It sounds small. It isn't.

  • Feedback. Building a space where people can say hard things honestly, without reading the room first. Decisions get made on need and practicality, not on who said it or how nicely it was said.

And the small elephant. There were moments this year where the team caught things I missed and handled them better than I would have. Saying it out loud felt weird. Also felt necessary. You want to build a place where that happens more, not less.

One more thing. No BS. The only goal is doing great work every day. Execute, execute, execute. Same as day one.

Two asks at the end. What's working. What's broken. Your call, not mine.

1% in.
